Team DSM

In collaboration with professional cycling team DSM, a UCI World Tour team and winner of the 2017 Giro d’Italia, ricon Lab has developed an innovative communication solution for riders and sport directors to maintain radio contact during races.

The Mesh Intercom™ connection is activated with a simple press of the connection button, allowing unlimited communication between athletes, team directors and teammates during races.

This innovative system is based on ricon’s dynamic Bluetooth communication technology. For Team DSM, this collaboration has provided an experience of unparalleled sound quality and an increased focus on the race by being connected to ricon’s technology.

The cooperation between Team DSM and ricon Lab began in 2022, when ricon introduced the Mesh Intercom™ system, allowing easy communication between riders and their team managers.

The safety and convenience of the new system were enhanced through a collaboration with Shimano, as the technology is compatible with Shimano’s Di2 system. A button is integrated directly into the handlebars, enabling riders to activate the ricon microphone located in their helmet, while keeping their hands in position. In addition, the DSM team realized a significant weight saving, as ricon’s communication system saves 130g compared to the traditional radio system (from 160g to 30g).



Austrian Ocean Racing Team

Offshore racing is dubbed “the hardest teamsport of the world”. For any equipment, this sport is probably the ultimate acid test. Especially when it comes to communication.

Have you ever been outside in a storm and try to talk with someone not standing right next to you?

Add the roar of the ocean and saltwater everywhere and you get a feeling on how hard it is to stay connected.

But good coordination is vital for success and safety. One person acting wrong or too late could be the loss of precious time, the loss of valuable equipment like a spinnaker or could even put the ship and the entire crew at risk.

That’s why we are very happy to have the Austrian Ocean Racing Team as our development partner to put ricon to the test on the hardest and most prestigious sailing races: The Ocean Race and the Rolex Fastnet Race.
